Advancing Gender Equity in STEM with the NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering (CWSE) Network
Background:
Despite progress in recent years, women continue to be underrepresented in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering (CWSE) network was created to address this issue by promoting gender equity and the advancement of women in STEM.
Challenge:
The CWSE network needed to establish a strong online presence to reach and connect with women in STEM and allies across Canada. They also needed to develop a website that would serve as a resource for information and opportunities related to gender equity in STEM.
Solution:
The CWSE network partnered with Omor Bros for web development to create a comprehensive and user-friendly website, located at stem-inclusion-stim.ca. The website was designed to be easily navigable and accessible for users of all abilities. It includes information about the network’s mission, events, resources, and opportunities for engagement.
The agency also worked with the CWSE network to provide consulting and maintenance work to keep the website up-to-date and ensure it continues to serve the needs of their community.
Results:
The new website has helped the CWSE network establish a strong online presence and reach a wider audience. The website has been well-received by the community and has become a valuable resource for information and opportunities related to gender equity in STEM.
The CWSE network has also seen an increase in engagement and membership since the launch of the new website. In addition, the network has been able to connect and collaborate with a wider range of organizations and individuals in STEM. This has led to new opportunities and partnerships for the CWSE network and its members.
Conclusion:
The NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering (CWSE) network has been able to establish a strong online presence and connect with a wider audience, thanks to a well-designed website that serves as a valuable resource for information and opportunities related to gender equity in STEM. The CWSE network continues to work with the agency for consulting and maintenance work to ensure the website remains up-to-date and serves the needs of their community.
